Zuul Nation is a collective project which brings together varied forms of artistic expression, namely music, theatre and video. Originally created to be a musical project, Zuul Nation originates in a group of musicians living in Lisbon, Portugal, and had its first public presentation under the name of Zuul in 2005. Later, it was re-designed as a broader project named Zuul Nation. Other artists also collaborate in the design, production and presentation of the various shows. The projects philosophy comes as the result of the urban experiences of the several individuals in the group, many times resulting in live shows in which primary emotions are coloured by the different cultural background of each individual. Music being its main means of creation and expression, the project Zuul Nation presents itself as a music quintet with an eclectic musical background: North-American jazz, African rhythms, dub and reggae, traditional Jewish music, heavy metal, funk and dance music are all influences which can be subtly recognized in their music.
